Meet the artist.
I create art inspired by nature and releasing control.
My paintings incorporate both abstract and realistic elements, because control—and letting go—has been something I’ve continuously explored throughout my life. I intentionally juxtapose the two in my paintings. In my landscapes, “releasing control” looks like using the fluid and often unpredictable method of mixing acrylic paint with water on raw canvas, achieving a watercolor effect that serves as a background for a realistic landscape element. I aim to achieve a balance that parallels the reality that while we don’t have control over everything that happens around us, we do have control over how we experience and react to it. And in every situation, there is beauty, whether planned or unplanned.
I’ve been making art my entire life, and I live in Alexandria, Virginia with my husband and two toddlers. I paint while my kids sleep.
